| Project Summary: |
Paula Grace Designs, Inc. was commissioned by the Loudoun
Arts Council in collaboration with the Audubon Naturalist Society for
the 2006 Designers’ Showhouse, the largest fundraiser for the
Loudoun Arts Council. Paula Grace returned the Library of the Rust
Nature Sanctuary, a historic mansion in Leesburg, Virginia, to its
former grandeur. The Library, the most sought after room for the Showhouse,
was conceptualized with a French-inspired design by Paula Grace. The
fireplace was revived with a Louis XV hand-carved mantel. Inside the
built-in bookcases, a muted gold was painted echoing the color chosen
for the rug. Two crescent shaped sofas and an ottoman completed the
conversational seating area. The yellows and gold were accented with
blues and salmons. Nature inspired motifs on regal Robert Allen/Beacon
Hill fabrics and trims were used. Works from Ed Cooper and Libby Stevens,
two local
artists, were hand selected by Paula Grace to adorn the gallery wall.
The result was a elegant, warm, inviting space admired by all that
visited the Showhouse. Paula Grace graciously donated the mantel and
surround with the hope that they be enjoyed for many years to come.
The pictures seen here are the before photos, the design concept rendering,
and
after the room was realized. The Audubon Naturalist Society decided
to keep the window treatments and mirror to have the glorious focal
wall remain intact. |
