| I
believe my parents and the many wonderful people with whom I have
had the privilege to work created my desire and skill to compose
beautiful surroundings. Surroundings that please and soothe on a
deep and personal level. A home needs to be a place where one feels
embraced with comfort, functionality, and elements pleasing to the
eye and soul.
My mother gave me the ability to be empathic, to comfort, and
to respond in a deeply connected manner. She was an amazing decorator
herself and, as the youngest of three, I was the one by her side
assisting in the forever decorating process that occurred in my
home. She had the unique ability to blend pieces to achieve an elegant
look. As money was tight, she would only occasionally add new things
that made the greatest impact. My mother is brilliant to this day
with this approach. My father was the epitome of functionality and
consistency. He gave me the brain for organization and conceptualization.
Combining the warmth and artistry from my mother with the precision
from my father have proved beneficial in my life and work.
When I was a practicing psychotherapist, my greatest joy came
from assisting people to discover their inner beauty and reveal
it to the world. The revelation came in the many forms such as greater
closeness in personal relationships, seeing the world for all the
beauty and graciousness it has to offer, enhanced capabilities in
the work place, and most important, peace within one’s soul.
Environment plays an important role in attaining these strengths.
This is how I became enamored with interior design. I recognize
the connection between a person, a family, and a home. Marrying
artistry and skill with the principles and elements of quality design
enable me to interpret my clients’ visions. To bring to life
a home from a house and to portray to the world my clients’
inner beauty revealed though elegant design and timeless pieces
that say “this is who I am.” - Paula Grace
