Truly an amazing designer, Paula took the time she needed to get to know me, understand what I wanted even though I couldn't put it into ‘designer speak.’ She... designed a home I had only been able to see in my dreams.

Paula was very patient dealing with a couple of decorating novices. She educated us on key design principles and coaxed us out of our comfort zone to achieve a dramatic transformation.

Paula Grace Halewski, president and principal designer of Paula Grace Designs, Inc., brings to the table a wealth of experience as an accomplished interior designer. She also brings a great deal more – including the ability to truly listen to her clients, to establish deep, trusting relationships with them, and to interpret their words into a compelling vision – creating a pleasing home environment that “feels right” to the client, time and time again.
This didn’t happen overnight. Nor did it happen by chance. A practicing psychotherapist for many years, Paula Grace is trained to be attuned to people’s psychological and emotional needs as well as their functional needs. She brings this highly cultivated, heartfelt skill with her into every design project she undertakes.
Prior to studying Interior Design, Paula Grace earned Masters Degrees in Clinical Social Work and Business Administration. She held Directorships of large behavioral health programs in a prestigious University Medical Center and for a large behavioral health system on the East Coast. In 2004, she combined all of her studies and skills and opened Paula Grace Designs, Inc.
Paula Grace is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), a member of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), the Sustainable Furnishings Council (certified GreenAP), the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Both her interior and furnishing designs have been published in shelter magazines. She has been hand-selected to participate in designer Show Houses, and her work has appeared in a prestigious book honoring the work of Washington, DC designers. Paula Grace has presented for the IFDA on business aspects of leading a successful interior design firm and for Home & Design Magazine on The Principles and Elements of Quality Design. Her work on The Psychology of Design was published by Washington Women’s Weekly. Her designs have been seen in Home & Design Magazine, Rug News and Design, and Home Accents Today. She has also provided pro bono design services to the Child Advocacy Center for Loudoun County and the SANE Room at Loudoun Hospital, both of which serve children in need.
Paula Grace was born in upstate New York to Bianca and Bogdan Halewski. Her mother was an aspiring interior decorator – with a dramatic, artistic flair. Her father attained Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Business Administration. Paula Grace inherited her natural, artistic flair from her mother, and her logical, focused approach and organizational skills from her father. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and daughter.
